Apologia Mission

Since 1996, Apologia Educational Ministries has supported homeschooling families by publishing excellent, easy-to-use creation-based science curriculum. In recent history, we have expanded our efforts to include new books and curriculum through Apologia Press, online courses through Apologia Academy, networking and encouragement through Apologia World, and ministering to moms at Apologia Live conferences.

Now we are excited to announce the formation of Apologia Mission, a 501(c)3 non-profit arm of Apologia Educational Ministries created to promote worldwide missions efforts while giving back and investing in the homeschool community. Through Apologia Mission, we hope to provide another layer of support for homeschooling families by assisting their missions efforts and by establishing scholarships for homeschooled students.

Missions

Through Apologia Mission, we plan to give, go, share, and sow in kingdom-building mission efforts. The following examples are just some of the creative ways we are currently serving others:

  • Donating curriculum to homeschooling missionaries in the Czech Republic, Norway, South Africa, Kenya, and China
  • Providing travel expenses for homeschool-conference speakers flying to the Czech Republic, Hungary, Germany, and Thailand
  • Supporting the mission efforts of organizations such as SHARE, LifeWork Forum, The Potter's School, International China Concern, and World Servants
  • Awarding stipends to Apologia conference team members who serve on short-term mission trips to China and Brazil

We are thrilled that God is using Apologia to bring homeschoolers together to cooperate in kingdom-building efforts around the globe. You can contact Apologia Mission at info@apologiamission.org and we can discuss the potential plans our Lord may have for us to minister together in love and for His glory.

Scholarships

Apologia Mission currently offers three scholarships for homeschooled students.

The Mike Pence Academic Scholarship has been in place since 1998 and has awarded over $50,000 since its inception. This scholarship, named in honor of Indiana congressman Mike Pence, is based on scholastic performance and is awarded to Indiana homeschool students. The winner receives $2000 per year, renewable up to four years. Laura McMillion, a student at Baylor University, was the 2009 recipient.

Last year, Apologia Mission established a new scholarship for North Carolina homeschool students who plan to be trained for ministry or missionary work. This $1000 scholarship is renewable up to four years. The inaugural recipient of this award was MacLane Leonard of Charlotte, North Carolina.

For 2010, Apologia Mission is happy to announce a new scholarship open to homeschool students hailing from any state in America. This $2000 award will be given to one student attending Impact360 (www.impact360.net), a servant-leadership, gap-year program sponsored by Union University and Chick-fil-A. Students attending this program study theology, apologetics, and current ethical issues taught by visiting professors. Students also serve as missionaries for one month in Brazil and receive 15 college credits.

Information and applications for each of these three Apologia Mission scholarships are available online at www.apologia.com/scholarships.
